Tonight: Play the latest titles from the NYU Game Center incubator

Tonight the NYU Game Center organizes a showcase for the participants of its incubator. There will be seven games in all and participants will have the chance to test them. Participating developers will also be on hand to talk about the process of creating their games.
The showcase will run from 7-10 p.m. tonight at MetroTech’s NYU Game Center. It’s free to attend.

The games on display span multiple genres, as we noted in our previous roundup of this year’s incubator attendees. There are Epitapha tactical game in which players lead a team of Grim Reapers to take control of the afterlife.

So there is Botolo, cryptically described as “an abstract, competitive mental dance for two players”. From this video, it appears to be rotation on the digital pinball machine, although the movements are partly controlled by artificial intelligence.
One of the games, interestingly, is not digital. Reformulable is a card game in which players arrange sequences of letters into words of increasing length. Including an analog game is just a first for the incubator. This year’s cohort also includes developers outside of NYU. Both of these developments are the result of the $450,000 grant the NYU Game Center received from the state agency Empire State Development earlier this year.
