1C Entertainment, the Polish studio behind games like King’s Bounty, today announced its acquisition by Tencent. Tencent will own the majority stake in the company and plans to rebrand the studios within six months.

Tencent will buy out the stakes previously held by parent company 1C. Under the terms of the agreement, 1C Entertainment and one of its 1C-branded subsidiaries will be rebranded. We don’t know yet what the new names will be.

1C Entertainment Board Member Tomasz Nieszporski said in a statement, “We are really excited about this deal. This is an incredible opportunity for 1CE to realize our wildest dreams and aspirations in the video game industry. Our vision and passion will now be supported by a leading global game company, and I am honored by the unique chance to work with Tencent and the other great creative minds that are part of its global ecosystem.

Li Shen, CTO of Tencent Games Global, added, “We couldn’t be happier to work with the talented team at 1C Entertainment, supporting them as they embark on a new phase of growth.
