Slovakian game developer Pixel Federation plants 86,000 trees with the help of its players

Pixel Federation held special events in its mobile games as part of the Green Game Jam. Players helped plant over 80,000 trees, exceeding its original goal by eight times.

Diggy’s Adventure

Pixel Federation shared the news in a blog post, claiming it was the first Slovak game studio to join the Playing for the Planet Alliance. It is an organization that helps developers integrate green activations into their games and reduce their emissions.

The Slovak studio also took part in this year’s Green Game Jam, pledging to plant 10,000 trees. Pixel Federation planned to fulfill this mission by adding special in-game events in Diggy’s Adventure, Station 2and Port city.

Players could purchase unique in-game content to support reforestation efforts in Africa. As a result, they were able to surpass the original goal and help plant 86,000 trees.

“As for the KPIs, we didn’t have a benchmark because this was our first activity with direct player financial support for a cause,” said Lucia Sickova, CLO of Pixel Federation. “But we were pleasantly surprised by the number of trees we were able to plant through our partner, thanks to our players.”

More than 40 people attended Green Game Jam 2022, including companies like Ubisoft, Rovio, Media Molecule, Small Giant Games, Tencent, and Supercell. The event focused on food and forests, with the ultimate goal being to help plant and protect 1 million trees.
