San Jose earthquakes beat Sacramento Republic 6-1 in preseason

The earthquakes of San José and Republic of Sacramento faced a preseason game at Earthquakes Stadium on Friday.

What happened in the game? It was played behind closed doors and the teams have yet to reveal the score.

Since this story was originally posted, I heard from someone who was present that San Jose ultimately won the game 6-1 and Quakes youngster Cade Cowell had a round of the hat in the game. It sounds good!

This information comes after the first video of the game:

Someone is yelling “Hit that second goal!” Or maybe it’s “Win that second ball!” ” by Stephen Wondolowski. And another person shouts, “Yes, Cameron. “

Otherwise, it’s a goal kick from the Sac Republic goaltender that is kicked well down the field by a Sacramento outfield, with the ball appearing to roll towards the Earthquakes goaltender at the end. It’s just six seconds, the ball goes a long way but that’s about all I can say about it.

After the initial publication of this story, the earthquakes released an honest match goal for the football gods, with Cristian Espinoza scoring from downtown:

So we got three goals from Cowell and one from Espinoza, from what I hear.

Cowell and Sacramento defenseman Hayden Sargis, both promising teenage pros, apparently trained together in the offseason and had a jersey swap.

So there you go, I guess. The earthquakes are supposed to face Oakland Roots next Friday, and there is a rumor that there will be a creek. We’ll see!
