The hot red South Beach Dance Club + Nightclub could open this weekend for the first time in more than four years, but not before a Who’s-Who from Houston shows up in full force for the world’s biggest tailgating party.
From GLBTQ+ influencers and media stars to civic leaders and social figures, the private VIP event on July 13 was hotter than our recent triple-digit times. With pent-up demand for the legendary club’s long-awaited return hitting an all-time high, revelers began to fill in with the ever-bright sunshine, marveling at the stunning, newly refurbished interior.
Owner Charles Armstrong – often referred to as the Mayor of Montrose – greeted guests as they entered the club (read our interview with him here). The mayor was flanked by a crowd of male models serving Madame Zero champagne on silver trays as the energy quickly turned electric.
Maybe it was state-of-the-art sound and lights or the jets of ice spitting cold air around the 450-pound, 8-foot quartz crystal chandelier spinning above the dance floor. . Or maybe it was nothing else Lynn Wyattarguably Houston’s biggest export, which caused a virtual tsunami after taking to the dance floor in front of a stunned crowd of onlookers.
Clearly, the beach is back and better than ever.
