How thinking inside the box made this savvy CEO a 7-figure company in 1 year

There aren’t many black women-owned event and creative agencies in Hollywood. To me, that means there is no room for a “day off”. I have to be on my A-game EVERY day!

LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, August 2, 2022 / — Being an entrepreneur is not an easy task. You need to be strong, bold and above all savvy (pun intended) to be able to pivot your business during a pandemic and continue to thrive in your industry. It’s not for the faint of heart.

For DeNeitra Burnett, owner of Notified events LLC., the entrepreneurial adventure was “real” to say the least. She started in (year) and now an MBA and two kids later, she and her husband Lawrence are seeing the fruits of their labor come to life.

Clearly, DeNeitra is stepping up. She is currently working with celebrities and companies like Hulu, Netflix, Peacock and HBO to provide what the industry calls personalized shippers. A curated experience, personalized gift boxes and luxury gift boxes are other expressions used to capture the essence of what she does.

So what exactly does this mean? Well, think about your favorite show or movie. Depending on the genre, this could include titles like:

beautiful air
The Kardashians
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom
Dark lady sketch show

Savvy Events has created custom mailers for ALL of these titles. In collaboration with the entertainment studio, DeNeitra and her team created dreamy gift sets. Custom built with the show’s fan base in mind, each box is carefully thought out and often includes the work of other black entrepreneurs. Talk about a way to support the community!

“We went from 6 figures in revenue in 2019 to 7 figures in 2021 and we are on track to generate multiple 7 figures in 2022. I never intended to run a business in 7 digits, so my mind is constantly blown.

It all started during COVID when the HBCU graduate’s event planning business saw a drop in sales. Nobody wanted to book anything, especially with the uncertainty of the world and the possibility of infecting others. It became a responsibility that no one wanted to have in their care.

The bank account looked very thin. For the Burnetts, it became a matter of life or life! Thinking about acting work and side hustles were all on the table for this family of four. Fortunately, grace was on their side.

The company received an email from Netflix asking for “custom mailers”. Having no idea what to do, DeNeitra and her husband Lawrence began to research and come up with a game plan. They booked their first show and the rest is history.

But like all worthwhile things in life, it hasn’t been an easy road. From unexpected upfront costs to growing pains, long hours and missing children, the Savvy team stepped up and faced challenges and celebrated successes together.

What’s the lesson here and DeNeitra’s advice?
Give 110% at all times. You never know where your next customer just.
Treat everyone with grace and respect. There is a time to show your worth and a time to simply listen and learn. This is how you grow.
Keep this passion! Don’t worry about when. If you love what you do, everything will be fine at the right time.
